series (2025)
Numinous Instrument Series is three sculptural works activated by the body to create sound. Each piece functions as both object and instrument: two rattles and one stringed form played with inked hands, leaving traces on canvas as a visual record of performance.
The series explores the threshold between sound and spirituality, drawing on the Japanese philosophy of Ma—the charged space between notes—as well as African war rattles and ritual fetishes. These instruments are imagined as tools for new ceremonies, where noise, rhythm, and gesture converge into acts of invocation. Part sculpture, part score, they invite the body into dialogue with material, space, and the unseen.
